Today's Metal Track is brought to you by Machine Head. This is the opening track off of their 2007 album The Blackening. This song comes out swinging with tons great guitar work including dual arpeggios. Now that I know the meaning behind the song, it makes it that much more powerful.
This song is a response to an article written by William Grim titled "Aesthetics of Hate: R.I.P. Dimebag Abbott, & Good Riddance" where he attacks Dimebag saying that "He was an ignorant, barbaric, untalented possessor of a guitar and large amplifier system." This was written before Dime was even put in the ground.
The article also attacked metal fans describing the the vigil as an "assemblage of ignorant, semi-human barbarians who were filthy in attire
and manner, intellectually incoherent and above all else, hideously ugly
to the point of physical deformity." Just wow, what a piece of crap Grim is. It is infuriating just reading that article as is described in the lyrics by Rob Flynn.
RIP Dimebag!
Exploring Heavy Metal and all its glory. Heavy Metal is often misunderstood and thought to be just a bunch of guys banging and screaming when in fact it can be extremely thoughtful, intelligent, and sincere. Expect some throw-down-head-banging, chill mood metal, and gloomy death metal that you're probably not going to hear on the radio. On the weekends we'll mix things up with a Weekend Wildcard and an Easy Like Sunday Morning Track to get you over your hangover!
