Today's Metal Track is Bloom by Between the Buried and Me off of their 2012 album The Parallax II: Future Sequence. This trippy song is a mix of pulsating pianos, progressive metal, scat singing, and surfing music. It comes completely out of left field on the album and at the end you're asking yourself what in the world did you just listen to. The one thing you do know is that it is awesome!
This song chronologically takes place at the end of Swim to the Moon which is the closing track from their The Great Misdirect. At the end of that song Prospect 1 is about to die floating at sea. When Bloom starts, Prospect 1 is taken to an underwater village where Queen Sea takes away his oxygen, performs tests on him, and makes him dance and sing. After finding out he has a greater purpose, Queen Sea apologizes and brings him back to life before sending him back to the surface. Got it? Good.
Exploring Heavy Metal and all its glory. Heavy Metal is often misunderstood and thought to be just a bunch of guys banging and screaming when in fact it can be extremely thoughtful, intelligent, and sincere. Expect some throw-down-head-banging, chill mood metal, and gloomy death metal that you're probably not going to hear on the radio. On the weekends we'll mix things up with a Weekend Wildcard and an Easy Like Sunday Morning Track to get you over your hangover!
