Lots of memorial posts lately :(
In honor of the passing of Jim Ed Brown, this Weekend's Wildcard is the 1967 classic country song Pop a Top. It was written by Nat Stuckey in 1966 and Jim recorded it the following year. Many of you are probably more familiar with the Alan Jackson cover song from the late 90s.
Jim first gained fame in the 1950s with his two sisters in the group The Browns. In March of this year it was announced that The Browns would be inducted into the Country Music Hall of Fame. Since his health began to decline, Jim was inducted earlier this month. He died this past Thursday from lung cancer. Jim was an active member of the Grande Ole Opry from 1963 until his death.
RIP Jim! We'll Pop a Top in your memory.
Exploring Heavy Metal and all its glory. Heavy Metal is often misunderstood and thought to be just a bunch of guys banging and screaming when in fact it can be extremely thoughtful, intelligent, and sincere. Expect some throw-down-head-banging, chill mood metal, and gloomy death metal that you're probably not going to hear on the radio. On the weekends we'll mix things up with a Weekend Wildcard and an Easy Like Sunday Morning Track to get you over your hangover!
