Today's Metal Track is Great Big White World by Marilyn Manson. This is the opening track off of his outstanding 1998 album Mechanical Animals. I was hooked on this album the first time I heard this track. It is still my favorite album of his.
Stolen from YouTube comments because it's better than I can explain it: "The song describes Manson as a spaceman, looking down on Earth, and
seeing a revolting and depressing sight which is our destroyed world."
In space the stars are no nearer
They just glitter like a morgue
And I dreamed I was a spaceman
Burned like a moth in a flame
And our world was so fucking gone
Exploring Heavy Metal and all its glory. Heavy Metal is often misunderstood and thought to be just a bunch of guys banging and screaming when in fact it can be extremely thoughtful, intelligent, and sincere. Expect some throw-down-head-banging, chill mood metal, and gloomy death metal that you're probably not going to hear on the radio. On the weekends we'll mix things up with a Weekend Wildcard and an Easy Like Sunday Morning Track to get you over your hangover!
