Today's Instrumental Metal Track of the Day is Serrana by Jason Becker. This song has been around in various forms since his time with Cacophony but he never recorded it on guitar for an album. This clip is taken from his 1989 90 minute long guitar clinic. Shortly after this clinic, he was diagnosed with ALS. This was his last recording of the song :(.
The song was later released on his 1996 album Perspective in an orchestral trumpet version.
Here is a cover version of the song by Max Arminchiardi off the 2002 tribute album Warmth in the Wilderness.
Exploring Heavy Metal and all its glory. Heavy Metal is often misunderstood and thought to be just a bunch of guys banging and screaming when in fact it can be extremely thoughtful, intelligent, and sincere. Expect some throw-down-head-banging, chill mood metal, and gloomy death metal that you're probably not going to hear on the radio. On the weekends we'll mix things up with a Weekend Wildcard and an Easy Like Sunday Morning Track to get you over your hangover!
