Today's Metal Track is One by Metallica. If you've never heard this before, come out from under that rock you are living under and rock out! This is off of their 1988 album ...And Justice For All. The song is based on the book Johnny Got His Gun about a quadruple
amputee war veteran. The video contains scenes and dialogue from the
1971 film adaptation of that book.
This was the first video ever released by Metallica and IMHO is still their best video. When this came out many fans were upset because they felt the band had sold out. It definitely gained them a larger fan base that would only skyrocket 3 years later with the release of the Black Album.
When they play this live they open with a couple of minutes of pyrotechnics that simulate being on the battlefield. I was in the pit back in 2003 and during one of the explosions a piece of duct tape landed on me and my brother that was still extremely hot. (Cool story bro)
Exploring Heavy Metal and all its glory. Heavy Metal is often misunderstood and thought to be just a bunch of guys banging and screaming when in fact it can be extremely thoughtful, intelligent, and sincere. Expect some throw-down-head-banging, chill mood metal, and gloomy death metal that you're probably not going to hear on the radio. On the weekends we'll mix things up with a Weekend Wildcard and an Easy Like Sunday Morning Track to get you over your hangover!
