This Weekend's Wildcard is brought to you by Nada Surf. This one hit wonder came out in 1996 on their debut album High/Low. It is a fun song that makes fun of the popular kids in high school. Apparently they have continued to release albums throughout the years and still tour. I haven't heard anything else from them though.
The whole song, except for the chorus, are parts made up from the 1964 teen advice book Penny's Guide to Teen-Age Charm and Popularity, written by television actress Gloria Winters. Remember ladies, wash your hair at least every two weeks! For some reason when I was younger I always heard the lyric as "My Mom sits on the couch" instead of "My Mom thinks I'm a catch". That makes way more sense.
Exploring Heavy Metal and all its glory. Heavy Metal is often misunderstood and thought to be just a bunch of guys banging and screaming when in fact it can be extremely thoughtful, intelligent, and sincere. Expect some throw-down-head-banging, chill mood metal, and gloomy death metal that you're probably not going to hear on the radio. On the weekends we'll mix things up with a Weekend Wildcard and an Easy Like Sunday Morning Track to get you over your hangover!
