Today's Metal Track is Rosetta Stoned by Tool. This comical song is off of their most recent album, 10,000 Days, which was released in 2006. This is a very detailed, first person account of man's alien encounter. The title of the song is an obvious reference to historical Rosetta Stone and being stoned. Was this a real experience or was he just stoned?
During his encounter, he is given the details of mankind's ending as a warning. He was suppose to deliver the message and save mankind but he forgot to write it down and now he can't remember what they said.
"And after calming me down with some orange slices and some fetal
spooning, E.T. revealed to me his singular purpose. He said. "you are
the chosen one. The one who will deliver the message. A message of hope
for those who choose to hear it, and a warning for those who do not."
Me! The chosen one. They chose me!!!! And I didn't even graduate from *&%$ high school!!"
When this first came out, it took a while for the fans to figure out the
lyrics since they were not included with the CD. You'll see why when
you listen.
Exploring Heavy Metal and all its glory. Heavy Metal is often misunderstood and thought to be just a bunch of guys banging and screaming when in fact it can be extremely thoughtful, intelligent, and sincere. Expect some throw-down-head-banging, chill mood metal, and gloomy death metal that you're probably not going to hear on the radio. On the weekends we'll mix things up with a Weekend Wildcard and an Easy Like Sunday Morning Track to get you over your hangover!
