And I turned 21 in prison doing life without parole,
No one could steer me right but Mama tried, Mama tried
In honor of the passing of the late great Merle Haggard, this Weekend's Wildcard is Mama Tried. This is the lead single and title track off of his 1968 album by the same name. It is semi-autobiographical because while Merle was sentenced to prison at the age of 21 he was not given life without parole.
RIP Merle!
Exploring Heavy Metal and all its glory. Heavy Metal is often misunderstood and thought to be just a bunch of guys banging and screaming when in fact it can be extremely thoughtful, intelligent, and sincere. Expect some throw-down-head-banging, chill mood metal, and gloomy death metal that you're probably not going to hear on the radio. On the weekends we'll mix things up with a Weekend Wildcard and an Easy Like Sunday Morning Track to get you over your hangover!
