Today's Metal Track is 10,000 Days (Wings Pt. 2) by Tool. This is the title track off of their 2006 album 10,000 Days. It follows the song titled Wings for Marie (Pt.1). This song may take awhile to grow on you because it has long building intro. If you get really impatient, fast forward to around the 4 minute mark.
There are so many great parts in the song that are filled with emotion by Maynard. This song is about his mother Judith Marie who was paralyzed from a stroke when he was 11 and died 27 years later which is roughly 10,000 days. It's about her finally getting her wings and ascending to heaven.
10,000 days in the fire is long enough.
You're going home...
You're the only one who can hold your head up high.
Shake your fist at the gates saying,
"I have come home now...!"
Fetch me the spirit, the son and the father.
Tell them their pillar of faith has ascended.
"It's time now!
My time now!
Give me my
Give me my wings...!"
Exploring Heavy Metal and all its glory. Heavy Metal is often misunderstood and thought to be just a bunch of guys banging and screaming when in fact it can be extremely thoughtful, intelligent, and sincere. Expect some throw-down-head-banging, chill mood metal, and gloomy death metal that you're probably not going to hear on the radio. On the weekends we'll mix things up with a Weekend Wildcard and an Easy Like Sunday Morning Track to get you over your hangover!
