It's Christmas time in Hollis, Queens
Mom's cooking chicken and collard greens
Rice and stuffing, macaroni and cheese
And Santa puttin' gifts under Christmas trees
This Weekend's Wildcard is Christmas in Hollis by Run-D.M.C. This 1987 single was released on two different Christmas compilation albums, A Very Special Christmas and Christmas Rap. I'm pretty sure we had A Very Special Christmas when I was growing up because I remember the album cover.
The title refers to the neighborhood in Queens, NY where the members grew up. The song samples numerous Christmas songs such as Frosty the Snowman, Jingle Bells, and Joy to the World.
Exploring Heavy Metal and all its glory. Heavy Metal is often misunderstood and thought to be just a bunch of guys banging and screaming when in fact it can be extremely thoughtful, intelligent, and sincere. Expect some throw-down-head-banging, chill mood metal, and gloomy death metal that you're probably not going to hear on the radio. On the weekends we'll mix things up with a Weekend Wildcard and an Easy Like Sunday Morning Track to get you over your hangover!
