The Price is Wrong Bob!
Today's Metal Track is The Price is Wrong by Periphery. This is the opening track off of their most recent album Periphery III: Select Difficulty. I'm assuming the song title is a reference to the classic Bob Barker fight scene in Happy Gilmore.
Here is the scene in case you have not seen it.
Exploring Heavy Metal and all its glory. Heavy Metal is often misunderstood and thought to be just a bunch of guys banging and screaming when in fact it can be extremely thoughtful, intelligent, and sincere. Expect some throw-down-head-banging, chill mood metal, and gloomy death metal that you're probably not going to hear on the radio. On the weekends we'll mix things up with a Weekend Wildcard and an Easy Like Sunday Morning Track to get you over your hangover!

Who oppose the American world?

Scott's Instrumental Metal Track of the Day - James Franco by Polyphia
Today's Instrumental Metal Track is James Franco by Polyphia. This ridiculously catchy tune is off of their 2015 album Muse. I'm not sure if there is any connection to James Franco other than maybe them being fans. Wonder if they had to have his permission.

This Weekend's Wildcard is Twilight Zone by Golden Earring. This is off of the Dutch band's 1982 album Cut. It was inspired by the 1980 novel The Bourne Identity. Yes, the one that was made into a trilogy starring Matt Damon. I never would have guessed there was a connection between the two.

Scott's Metal Track of the Day - Isak by Baroness
Today's Metal Track is Isak by Baroness. This id off of their 2007 Red Album. It's a little more rough around the edges compared to their newer stuff but that is part of the appeal.
Isak
Hands in the ground
Buried traces of sound scream
Hem in the seed
Water to salt
Salt into rain

Scott's Metal Track of the Day - I, Zombie by White Zombie
Today's Metal Track is I, Zombie by White Zombie. This is off of their 1995 album Astro Creep 2000. We listen to this one fairly often because it follows Jack's favorite song "Grease Paint and Monkey Brains." Every time this song comes on Jack says "Is this the one where the girl screams?"
I'm not sure how well it would work but I think it would be cool to incorporate this into The Walking Dead somehow.

Weekend Wildcard - One Thing Leads to Another by The Fixx
"The impression that you sell
Passes in and out like a scent
But the long face that you see comes from living close
To your fears
If this is up then I'm up but you're running out of sight
You've seen your name on the walls
And when one little bump leads to shock miss a beat
You run for cover and there's heat, why don't they:

Scott's Metal Track of the Day - Spit Out the Bone by Metallica
Happy Album Release Day! Eight years after Death Magnetic, Metallica has finally released their 10th studio album Hardwired... To Self Destruct. I haven't listened all the way through the album yet but I've heard enough to know it's awesome. Today's Metal Track particularly stuck out to me. It is the closing track on the album and is accompanied by a sweet music video including killer robots, martial arts, and an electric chair! The power engineer in me immediately noticed the nice touch with the power lines with the electric waves being 120 degrees out of phase with each other.

Scott's Metal Track of the Day - ManUnkind by Metallica
Metallica's new album comes out tomorrow and they have been releasing all of their songs and many of them have videos to go with them. So far this one wins for best video. It's equal parts brutal, metal, and funny. I especially love the home video style footage.
Watch Metallica perform as young black metal artists in today's Metal Track, ManUNkind off of their new album Hard Wired...To Self-Destruct.

Scott's Metal Track of the Day - Before I Forget by Slipknot
Well Before I Forget to post again, Wednesday's Metal Track is Before I Forget by Slipknot. This is off of their 2005 album Vol. 3 (The Subliminal Verses). This track won a Grammy in 2006 for Best Metal Performance. It was also listed as AOL's top metal song of the decade. Didn't know that was a thing but hey, neat.
Producer Rick Rubin tried to get Corey to change the chorus because it wasn't catchy enough but Corey wouldn't budge. It's funny because IMO it is one of their catchiest songs.
"Stapled shut, inside an outside world and I'm
Sealed in tight, bizarre but right at home
Claustrophobic, closing in and I'm
Catastrophic, not again"

Scott's Instrumental Metal Track of the Day - The Story of Light by Steve Vai
Today's Instrumental Metal Track is The Story of Light by Steve Vai. This is the opening and title track off of his 2012 album by the same name. It does have some spoken words sprinkled throughout the song by a Russian girl. I don't speak Russian but I know at least at the beginning she says "This is the Story of Light". Not sure about the rest and it doesn't really matter. Just listen to the music.

Scott's Metal Track of the Day - Low Self Opinion by Rollins Band
Get yourself a break from self rejection
Try some introspection
And you just might find
It's not so bad and anyway
At the end of the day
All you have is yourself and your mind
Today's Metal Track is Low Self Opinion by Rollins Band. This is off of their 1992 album The End of Silence. The album cover features a drawing of the sun that matches the tattoo on Rollins' back. The tattoo was done by Rick Spellman who is also the tattoo artist for Glenn Danzig.
There is one chord they hit in this song that sounds just like one of the main chord in Alice in Chains' Rooster.

Easy Like Sunday Morning Track - Mother/Dirty Work Mashup by Steely Danzig
Today's Easy Like Sunday Morning Track is an odd mashup of Steely Dan and Danzig or wait for it... Steely Danzig. The guy who came up with this mashup, Demi Adejuyigbe, has put together some great mashups in the past based on puns. This track blends the smooth sounds of Steely Dan and the powerful voice of Glenn Danzig.
Thanks to Kyle Fox for showing this to me!

Scott's Metal Track if the Day - Into the Void by Black Sabbath
Today's Metal Track is Into the Void by heavy metal legends Black Sabbath. I love the smooth, crawling intro leading into that raw, old school riff from the riffmaster himself, Toni Iommi. This is off of their 1971 album Master of Reality.
James Hetfield has stated this is his favorite Sabbath track. Need I say more?
