Weekend Wildcard - A Matter of Trust by Billy Joel

This Weekend's Wildcard is A Matter of Trust by Billy Joel off of his 1986 album The Bridge. This song is unique in that is features Billy on electric guitar instead of piano which is why he says it's his favorite music video.

Scott's Metal Track of the Day - Krigsgaldr by Heilung

Well I said yesterday's Metal Track was strange but I think this one definitely has it beat. This is Krigsgaldr by the Danish folk-metal band Heilung. I don't even know if this qualifies as metal but it's making the cut tonight. If you couldn't tell by the antlers and bones used for instruments, this band had a primal approach to music. The vocal performances are great.

Scott's 5th Anniversary Metal Track of the Day - Angry Again by Megadeth

Today marks the 5th Anniversary of my music blog. As of today I have posted over 1700 different tracks by well over 400 different artist. There are still plenty of great tracks out there and new tracks coming out so I hope to keep it going for awhile.

My very first post was a Megadeth track so I figure another one for the 5 Year Anniversary would be appropriate. Today's Metal Track is Angry Again from the Last Action Hero Soundtrack which is one of my favorite soundtracks. I have it on cassette around here somewhere. Here's to another 5 years of Metal!

Scott's Metal Track of the Day - Talk Talk by A Perfect Circle

Don't be a problem, be the solution

Today's beautiful Metal Track is new music by A Perfect Circle. This is Talk Talk off of their upcoming album Eat the Elephant which comes out April 20th. I really dig this song and the way it builds up. And of course Maynard is fantastic as usual on vocals. I've listened to this four times while writing this.

Scott's Metal Track of the Day - Jaguar God by Mastodon

Today's Metal Track is Jaguar God by Mastodon. This is the closing track off of their 2017 album Emperor of Sand which is still in the CD player of my car as we speak. Just a great overall song that is a little different that most Mastodon songs with the slow intro. The high point is that fantastic solo by Brent to close out the song and the album.

Scott's Metal Track of the Day - Psychosphere by Periphery

Today's Metal Track is Psychosphere by Periphery. This is off of their 2015 double album Juggernaut. This was the closing track off of the Alpha album. Definitely some brown notes in there so be careful.

Amazingly, this video was filmed in just one take. I didn't even pay attention to that until I saw it in the description.

Scott's Metal Track of the Day - Lonely Day by System of a Down

Today's Metal Track is Lonely Day by System of a Down. This is off of their 2005 album  Hypnotize. On this track, Serj takes on back up vocals in favor of lead guitarist Daron who takes on lead. It is rumored that this song is about Daron losing his brother who died in a fire. Not sure if it is true or nt but that would explain all the fire in the video.

In honor of Jack's 6th Birthday today's Metal Track is The House That Jack Built by Metallica. This is off of their 1996 album Load. Lots of cool, wicked sound effects on this track with the wah pedal and talk box.

Every time Jack builds something I think of this song lol. Happy Birthday Son!

Scott's Instrumental Metal Track of the Day - Moonlight Sonata (3rd Movement) - Beethoven cover by Tina S

I often tell people that classical and metal music have a lot of similarities so it is awesome to see them cross paths. This time it comes in the form of a 17 year old girl covering Ludwig van Beethoven's Moonlight Sonata (3rd Movement).

Watch Tina S spank this guitar in today's Instrumental Metal Track. It's a thing of beauty. One of the best performances I've ever seen.

Scott's Metal Track of the Day - Millions by Between the Buried and Me

New Between the Buried and Me album, Automata 1, dropped today. Thanks for reminding me Jamie. From my quick listen, my favorite so far is the closing track Blot. But they released a video today for Millions so I'm going to hold out on that one with the hopes they will eventually release a video.

Front man Tommy Rogers on the album:
"What if dreams could be broadcast for the purpose of entertainment? Could you consume the innermost thoughts of another person on screen? If you could, what does that say about an attention-starved audience? More importantly, what would become of the dreamer?"

Scott's Metal Track of the Day - Christeen by Devin Townsend

Today's Metal Track is Christeen by Devin Townsend. This is off of his 1998 album Infinity. I still can't believe I didn't really know about Devin until years later. Dude has been putting out great music for years. The cover of this album is even more awkward than the video because not only is he sitting naked on the floor, he also has the goof remnants of hair he had before he shaved it.

Weekend Wildcard - Phantom of the Opera Theme Song

My mom and stepdad bought us tickets to go see the Phantom of the Opera as Christmas Presents and we all went this past Thursday. There were a lot of good songs but I think I like the main theme song the best.

This Weekend's Wildcard is Phantom of the Opera as performed by Gerard Butler and Emmy Rossum (Hay Gurl). I had no idea these two had performed this.

We'll never get out of this hole
Until we've dug our own grave

Today's Metal Track is Now You've Got Something to Die For by Lamb of God. I think this is the first song I ever heard by Lamb of God and it was this video on MTV. Just a solid track all the way through. I love that outro especially.
