Scott's Metal Track of the Day - Number of the Beast by Iron Maiden

In keeping with the Bible theme, today's Metal Track originates from the book of Revelations. This is The Number of the Beast by Iron Maiden off of their 1982 album by the same name. This is one of the most iconic songs by Iron Maiden and heavy metal in general. That scream following the opening verse is legendary.

The opening quote comes from Revelations 12:12 and 13:18:

"Woe to you, oh Earth and sea, for the Devil sends the Beast with wrath Because he knows the time is short Let him who hath understanding reckon the number of the Beast For it is a human number, its number is six hundred and sixty six"

Scott's Metal Track of the Day - Creeping Death by Metallica

The last few Sundays in church we've been reading through the book of Exodus and it always reminds me of today's Metal Track. Creeping Death talks about the 10 plagues that Moses, through God, laid on the Egyptians. Turns out the Bible is pretty Metal at times lol.

"Now
Let my people go, land of goshen
Go
I will be with thee, bush of fire
Blood
Running red and strong, down the Nile
Plague
Darkness three days long, hail to fire"

Our preacher also talked about how slow God moved at times and specifically noted the Hebrews being subjected to slavery by the Egyptians for 400 hundred years.

"Slaves
Hebrews born to serve, to the pharaoh
Heed
To his every word, live in fear
Faith
Of the unknown one, the deliverer
Wait
Something must be done, four hundred years"

This is Creeping Death off of Metallica's 1984 album Ride the Lightning.

Weekend Wildcard - Up Above My Head by Sister Rosetta Tharpe

This Weekend's Wildcard is a rocking gospel song from the Godmother of Rock N' Roll, Sister Rosetta Tharpe. She was finally inducted into the Rock N' Roll Hall of Fame this year which is awesome but well overdue. She was truly a pioneer. While this performance was from sometime in the 60s, the song was originally recorded in the 1940s.

Scott's Metal Track of the Day - Dance Macabre by Ghost

I know I just posted Ghost a couple of weeks ago but they came out with a new song and video today and I couldn't resist. This is Dance Macabre off of their upcoming album Prequelle which is set to release on June 1st. Super catchy song. Definitely looking forward to the rest of the album.

The video is nothing but cameos of their fans from other bands, wrestlers, and actresses. Of note is Kirk Hammett (Metallica), Phil Anselmo (Pantera), Chino (Deftones), M. Shadows (Avenged 7X) and Chris Jericho.

Like snowfall, you cried a silent storm
No tears stain this dust in my hands
But from this ashen gray, her voice still
Whispers my name. . .

I somehow let Agalloch slip in the rotation and just realized I haven't post them in over two years. That's just unacceptable. Today's Metal Track is You Were But a Ghost in My Arms off of their outstanding 2002 album The Mantle.

Scott's Metal Track of the Day - Of Blood and Salt by Gojira festuring Devin Townsend and Fredrik Thordendal

Today's Metal Track is Of Blood and Salt. This was a collaboration between Gojira, Devin Townsend and Fredrik Thordendal (Meshuggah).
