Today's Easy Like Sunday Morning Track is brought to you by the smooth sounds of The Temptations. Just My Imagination is off of the Motown group's 1971 album Sky's the Limit.
Exploring Heavy Metal and all its glory. Heavy Metal is often misunderstood and thought to be just a bunch of guys banging and screaming when in fact it can be extremely thoughtful, intelligent, and sincere. Expect some throw-down-head-banging, chill mood metal, and gloomy death metal that you're probably not going to hear on the radio. On the weekends we'll mix things up with a Weekend Wildcard and an Easy Like Sunday Morning Track to get you over your hangover!

Weekend Wildcard - The Jean Genie by David Bowie
This Weekend's Wildcard is The Jean Genie by David Bowie. This is off of his 1972 album Aladdin Sane. Commenting on the song, Bowie stated: "Starting out as a lightweight riff thing I had written one evening in
NY for Cyrinda [Fox]'s enjoyment, I developed the lyric to the otherwise
wordless pumper and it ultimately turned into a bit of a smorgasbord of
imagined Americana ... based on an Iggy [Pop]-type persona ... The title, of
course, was a clumsy pun upon Jean Genet."

Scott's Metal Track of the Day - The Cell by Gojira
All this evil, sanctified
You're not alone, you're not the only one
Overcrowded in your brain
You'll find a way out or you will fall
Today's Metal Track is The Cell by Gojira. This is off of their most recent album Magma which came out last year. The album was nominated for a Grammy for Best Rock Album but lost to Cage the Elephant. Not sure why they were labeled rock instead of metal but hey, it was cool the French Metal band got some recognition.
The video is pretty sweet. I'm not sure what effect they are using but it turned out cool. They have been on point with their videos for this album.

Scott's Grundge Metal Track of the Day - Again by Alice in Chains
Today's Grundge Metal Track is Again by Alice in Chains. This is off of their 1995 self-titled album which is commonly referred to as the three-legged dog album because well,. there is a three-legged dog on the cover. The track features a solid, heavy riff by Mr. Cantrell and some sweet doot doots from Layne. Seriously, how do you make doot doot metal? Only Layne, RIP!

Easy Like Sunday Morning Track - Making Love Out of Nothing at All by Air Supply
Today's Easy Like Sunday Morning Track is Making Love Out of Nothing at All by Air Supply. This power ballad was recorded and released as a new track off of the Australian band's 1983 Greatest Hits album. I chose this version because it's the original but Bonnie Tyler's version is probably the best and clocks in at almost 8 minutes. The song really fits her voice better.

Scott's Metal Track of the Day - Shred by Overkill
We are having a "Shred-It" event next week at work to promote recycling. But of course the metal head in me only thinks of one thing when I hear shred. And that leads us to our Metal Track of the Day, Shred by Overkill. This is the opening track off of their 1988 album Under the Influence.
"So when all is said and done,
I came to shred..."

Scott's Metal Track of the Day - One of Us is the Killer by The Dillinger Escape Plan
Today's Metal Track is One of Us is the Killer by The Dillinger Escape Plan. This is the title track off of their 2013 album by the same name. This is another track that is very mellow by Dillinger standards but is very catchy.
From the horse's mouth (Puciato): "a lot of issues on the album relate[d] to co-dependency and unknowingly destroying a relationship and taking responsibility for that and not pointing outward. The chorus of the song says 'one of us must die, but the killer won’t survive.' In a relationship, you're both fifty percent at fault. It's about accepting responsibility instead of directing it outward."

Easy Like Sunday Morning Track - Lovin', Touchin', Squeezin' by Journey
Today's Easy Like Sunday Morning Track is Lovin', Touchin', Squeezin' by Journey. This is off of their 1979 album Evolution and was the bands first top 20 hit. I wonder if it holds the record for number of consecutive Na's in a row? a quick Google search tells me there are 154 Na's in a row. I'm not going to count to verify. Ain't nobody got time for that.

Scott's Metal Track of the Day - By Your Command by Devin Townsend
Today's Metal Track is By Your Command by Devin Townsend. This is off of his 2007 concept album Ziltoid the Omniscient. I really need to listen to this album more. I got into Devin later on and I absolutely love Z2 which came out in 2014. I would love to catch one of his performances where this is performed as a rock opera.
Scott's Metal Track if the Day - I Didn't Wanna Join Your Stupid Cult Anyway by Every Time I Die
Today's Metal Track is a hilarious video by Every Time I Die. This is I Didn't Wanna Join Your Stupid Cult Anyway off of their latest album Low Teens. "We're gonna get carried away!" I'd say they did that with this video for sure.
The band was waiting for editing to be completed on another video and Buckley decided to throw this together to tide the fans over. This could end up being their best video ever lol!

Scott's Metal Track of the Day - Suzerain by Anthrax
Adam and Stone, a little ditty to get you pumped for tonight! Today's Metal Track is Suzerain off of Anthrax's latest album For All Kings. It's the heaviest song on the album so of course it's one of my faves.
Seeing them play tonight will complete the Big Four (Metallica, Megadeth, Slayer, and Anthrax) for me. With Jonathan Donais now in the band, this might be their best lineup. He's fantastic (awesome solo on this track) and all the other members are from what is considered their classic lineup in the 80s.
In case you are wondering what Suzerain means: "a dominant state controlling the foreign relations of a vassal state but allowing it sovereign authority in its internal affairs"

Scott's Metal Track of the Day - Cut Me Loose by Killswitch Engage
Tomorrow night, Adam, Stone, and I are going to see Anthrax and Killswitch Engage at the Ritz. We've all seen Killswitch a few times but this will be our first seeing them with Jesse on vocals. He was the original singer who returned to the band after Howard left.
Today's Metal Track is Cut Me Loose off of Killswitch's newest album Incarnate. Betcha can't guess who I'll play for tomorrow's track :)

Easy Like Sunday Morning Track - Who's Gonna Fill Their Shoes by George Jones
Today's Easy Like Sunday Morning Track is Who's Gonna Fill Their Shoes by George Jones. This song pays tribute to numerous singers including Waylon Jennings, Willie Nelson, Elvis Presley, Conway Twitty, Merle Haggard, and Johnny Cash among others. If the song was performed by another singer, Possum himself would definitely be included in that list.

Scott's Metal Track of the Day - April Ethereal by Opeth
Since it's April, how about some April Ethereal by Opeth. This is off of their 1998 album My Arms, Your Hearse.
She faced me in awe; 'twas a token of ebony color
Embodied in faint vapor
Wandering through April's fire
Compelled to grasp and to hold the one that was you

Easy Like Sunday Morning Track - Feeling Good by Michael Bublé
Today's Easy Like Sunday Morning Track is Feeling Good by Michael Bublé. This is a cover of the 1964 show tune written by Anthony Newley and Leslie Bricusse. Bublé recorded it for his 2005 album It's Time. I actually first heard this when I saw the video of him pulling a kid up on stage to sing with him. The kid can really sing and I love Bublé's reaction.
