Today's Instrumental Metal Track is Pillars of Re-Creation by Merrow. Studio guitarist Keith Merrow released a couple of albums under the truncated named of Merrow. This track is off of his 2012 EP Retrospecial.
Exploring Heavy Metal and all its glory. Heavy Metal is often misunderstood and thought to be just a bunch of guys banging and screaming when in fact it can be extremely thoughtful, intelligent, and sincere. Expect some throw-down-head-banging, chill mood metal, and gloomy death metal that you're probably not going to hear on the radio. On the weekends we'll mix things up with a Weekend Wildcard and an Easy Like Sunday Morning Track to get you over your hangover!

Scott's Instrumental Metal Track of the Day - The Hawthorne Passage by Agalloch
Today's Instrumental Metal Track is brought to you by Agalloch off of their incredible album The Mantle. This is such a chill song that just continues to get better all the way to the end. The second half (starting at 6:45) is the best part. Especially when they bring the horns out!

Today's Metal Track, Last Word, is the lead single from Stone which is set to be release September 15.

Scott's Instrumental Metal Track of the Day - Ashes of the Wake by Lamb of God
If you don't like screaming but like heavy music, today's Instrumental Metal Track is for you! A brilliant display of punishing breakdowns and tight drumming embedded in a barrage of solos.
Ashes of the Wake is one of my favorite Lamb of God Tracks and serves as the title track off 2004 album. The song is not completely instrumental but the only vocals are snippets from former staff sergeant and former Marine Jimmy Massey in an interview after his return from the Iraq War. his song features guest guitarist Alex Skolnick (of Testament) and Chris Poland (Formerly of Megadeth).

Scott's Instrumental Metal Track of the Day - The Only Thing The Fear is You (Doom Eternal) by Mick Gordon
Any Doom fans out there? I grew up playing the early releases on PC and Sega 32X. I need to check out some of the newer releases. They seem intense. Today's Instrumental Metal Track comes from the 2020 game Doom Eternal. The Only Thing They Fear is You was composed by Australian composer Mick Gordon. He composed the entire score for the game and soundtrack. Unfortunately issues with the soundtrack release ended in an ugly and public falling out between Mick and id Software.

Scott's Easy Like Sunday Morning Track - Silent Lucidity by Queensryche
Hush now, don't you cry
Wipe away the teardrop from your eye
You're lying safe in bed
It was all a bad dream spinning in your head
If you open your mind for me
You won't rely on open eyes to see
The walls you built within
Come tumbling down, and a new world will begin

Scott's Metal Track of the Day - Becoming the Dragon by Trivium
Transform from koi into a beast!
Dragon!
You'll never stop the becoming, yeah
This. Dragon. Will. Rise. And. Be. King
Today's Metal Track is absolute beast by Trivium. Becoming the Dragon is off of their 2006 album The Crusade. The whole song is great but my goodness what a final minute and half with the breakdown, the guitar solo, and that sweet bass solo.

Today's Metal Track is Scorched by thrash metal legends Overkill. This is the title track which was also just released hours ago with album. Blitz is an absolute treasure. Still just as amazing as he was in the 80s.

Scott's Metal Track of the Day - The Drapery Falls by Opeth
I'm counting nocturnal hours
Drowned visions in haunted sleep
Faint flickering of your powers
Leaks out to show what you keep
Pull me down again
And guide me into
Ah ah ah
Ah ah ah
Ah ah ah
Ah ah ah
Today's Metal Track is brought to you by Swedish progressive metal legends Opeth. The Drapery Falls is the gateway song for listeners not quite into progressive death metal with growling. The transition from clean vocals to growls, a signature of Opeth songs, is on full display here. This track pulls you in for a good 5 minutes before hitting you with the first growl. It's a beautiful, brooding song and shining example of what makes Opeth the cream of the crop when it comes to metal.

Scott's 10th Anniversary Metal Track of the Day - Tornado of Souls by Megadeth
10 YEARS of Metal Tracks, Weekend Wildcards, and Easy Like Sunday Morning Tracks! I can't believe I made it this long. With no repeats (few exceptions), that equates to roughly 3,600 different tracks with roughly 2,600 of those being metal tracks.
I've thought about hanging it up a few times over the last few years because it has been a challenge to post EVERY SINGLE DAY. Can't tell you how many times I've posted from my phone sitting in bed at midnight haha.
I think I'm going to keep it going for a little while at least because I love metal and enjoy promoting and talking about it. It's one of my passions that I shared first with my brother, then my friends, and now my kids. But after 10 years I think it's okay to start playing some repeats. There is still a ton of great metal coming out that I plan to share but I will get back to some of my favorites that I've posted through the years.
With that being said, today's Metal Track was the first track I played back on March 27 2013. The one I chose to kick things off and boy it does not disappoint. Tornado of Souls comes out swinging and doesn't stop. It's fast, tight, groovy, and has one of the best solos ever brought to you by the magnificent Marty Friedman. Released in 1990, Rust In Peace is considered by many as Megadeth's best album and one of the greatest metal albums of all time.
Enjoy, and as always... Keep it Metal! \m/

RIP Gary Rossington - Free Bird by Lynryd Skynryd
RIP Gary Rossington. You, and the rest if the founding members are all free as a bird now. Just know that we will still remember you. But you must be traveling on now 'cause there's too many places you've got to see.
Today's Track is the iconic Free Bird by the legendary southern rock band Lynyrd Skynyrd. This performance is from 1977 at the Oakland Coliseum and features a young Gary Rossington with his flower jacket, his Gibson SG, his glass slide, and one of the most iconic riffs in rock history.
Three months after this performance, tragedy struck the band when their plane crashed killing singer Ronnie Van Zant and guitarist Steve Gaines.

Scott's Metal Track of the Day - The Surgeon by Overkill
Are you ready to Wreck Your Neck?
Today's Metal Track is brand new music from one of best thrash metal bands of all time. I've been listening to Overkill since I was a wee lad in the late 80s and this track holds true to their roots. Which is something we have come to expect with Overkill. Blitz sounds just as good as ever. There is no one else like him.
The Surgeon was released today as the first single off of their upcoming album, Scorched, set to be released April 14th. Enjoy!
