Today's Easy Like Sunday Morning Track is brought to you by Extreme. This is the closing track on their 1990 album Extreme II. The lead singer, Gary Cherone, would later join Van Halen for a short period of time that ultimately proved unsuccessful.
Exploring Heavy Metal and all its glory. Heavy Metal is often misunderstood and thought to be just a bunch of guys banging and screaming when in fact it can be extremely thoughtful, intelligent, and sincere. Expect some throw-down-head-banging, chill mood metal, and gloomy death metal that you're probably not going to hear on the radio. On the weekends we'll mix things up with a Weekend Wildcard and an Easy Like Sunday Morning Track to get you over your hangover!

Weekend Wildcard - I Want to Be Like You by Louis Prima (Jungle Book)
Jack and I have been watching The Jungle Book a lot lately and I can't decide if I want to start calling him Little Britches or Man Cub.
With that said, this Weekend's Wildcard is brought to you by Louis Prima and The Jungle Book Movie. This song was done specifically for the movie and is one of my favorite scenes in any Disney movie. In this scene, Mowgli has been captured by King Louis because he wants to learn the secret of making fire while Bagheera and Baloo come in for the rescue.
Baloo, vocied by Phil Harris, is also one of my favorite Disney characters and this scene is a great example of why. "I'm gone man, solid gone."
Here is a cool video about the making of the song: http://youtu.be/rV8HrpOu1FA

Scott's Metal Track of the Day - Prehistoric Dog by Red Fang
Hey Gandalf, nice dress!
Today's Metal Track is brought to you by the stoner metal band Red Fang. This is the opening track off of their 2009 debut self-titled album. There have been a few videos in the past 5 years that have included LARP (Live Action Role Play) with this being one of the earlier ones.
The other two LARP videos that come to mind are Protest the Hero's video for Clarity last year (Which I posted last month) and Mastodon's video for High Road which just debuted yesterday. I wonder if it had something to do with the movie Role Model which came out in 2008.
Can you think of any more LARP videos?

Scott's Metal Track of the Day - Sugar by System of a Down
Today's Metal Track is brought to you by System of a Down. This is the first single off of their 1998 debut self-titled album. The band still closes with this song at most of their concerts. While this song was a hit, the band didn't really blow up until their following album Toxicity which was a little more polished and appealed to a broader audience.
The opening scene of the news anchor rant in the video is a reenactment of the 1976 satirical film Network. Due to the controversial nature of the video, it received little airplay. Some channels were forced to only play the video after 10pm.

Scott's Metal Track of the Day - Ghost Walking by Lamb of God
Today's Metal Track is brought to you by Lamb of God. This is the first single off of their most recent album Resolution which was released in 2012.
This song is about a Vietnam war veteran who had picked up a heroin habit while overseas in order to deal with the stress of combat. When the veteran returned home he has a hard time returning to civilized life and retains his habit.
You lived through hell
Now you're trying to die
The skin is healed
But you're bleeding inside
Shots fired just to numb the pain
There's no one left to save

Scott's Instrumental Metal Track of the Day - Mr. Scary by Dokken
Today's Instrumental Metal Track is brought to you by Dokken. This track is off of their 1987 album Back for the Attack. This song features some great shredding by the famous George Lynch.
This was the band's best selling album reach #13 on the billboard charts. It was also the last one before breaking up in 1989. They eventually reformed in 1993 and have had gone through several line-up changes. I always think of the Squidbillies episode where town folk are trying to keep Dokken from coming to perform and all the fans respond with "But it's a whole new lineup".

Easy Like Sunday Morning Track - The Wind Cries Mary by Jimi Hendrix
Today's Easy Like Sunday Morning Track is brought to you by one of the most influential musicians of all time, Jimi Hendrix. This is off of his 1967 debut album Are You Experienced. The album is considered to be one of the greatest debut albums of all time.
A broom is drearily sweeping
up the broken pieces of yesterday's life.
Somewhere a Queen is weeping,
somewhere a King has no wife.
And the wind it cries Mary

Weekend Wildcard - Let's Groove by Earth Wind & Fire
This Weekend's Wildcard is a catchy tune brought to you by Earth Wind & Fire. This is off of their 1981 album Raise! This video was the first ever video played on the show Video Soul on BET. This song was released not long after the disco era and received some criticism at the time due to the anti-disco movement. However, this song has obviously stood the test of time.

Scott's Metal Track of the Day - Primo Victoria by Sabaton
In honor of the 70th anniversary of D-Day, today's Metal Track is Primo Victoria by Sabaton. This is the title track off of the Swedish band's 2005 album Primo Victoria. A fan took this song and synched it with Saving Private Ryan footage.
Through the gates of hell
As we make our way to heaven
Through the Nazi lines
Primo victoria
On the 6th of June
On the shores of western Europe 1944
D-day upon us
Through the gates of hell
As we make our way to heaven
Through the Nazi lines

Scott's Metal Track of the Day - Take My Bones Away by Baroness
Today's Metal Track is brought to you by Baroness. This was the first single off of their 2012 double album Yellow & Green. It's a little more accessible than their previous releases mainly because the vocals are cleaner. I still prefer the Blue Record sound overall but this is still a great track.

Scott's Metal Track of the Day - What's in You by Black Label Society
Today's Metal Track is brought to you by Black Label Society. This is another one off of their 2005 album Mafia. This is a very simple song that only has 5 different lines used throughout. But it still gets the job done with a solid riff and spirited vocals by Zakk.
Here are the 5 lines:
Step inside this nightmare where I live
The madman roams inside my head
Oh, what's in you now?
Helter skelter running through my veins
Satan's coming on his way

Easy Like Sunday Morning Track - Dreams by Fleetwood Mac
Today's Easy Like Sunday Morning Track is brought to you by Fleetwood Mac. This is the second single released off of their 1977 album Rumors. This album was their most successful album and this song was the bands only US No. 1 hit. Stevie Nicks' vocals in this song are outstanding.
This album was written at time when the band was experiencing very emotional relationship challenges. The drummer was going through a divorce, the bassist and keyboardist were separating from each other, and singer Stevie Nicks and guitarist Lindsey Buckingham were ending their 8 year relationship. Nicks originally wrote this on piano but the band later replaced them with guitar and bass.
It's only me
Who wants to wrap around your dreams and
Have you any dreams you'd like to sell?
Dreams of loneliness...
Like a heartbeat drives you mad...
In the stillness of remembering
What you had
And what you lost...
