Turn it up!
This Weekend's Wildcard is Turn Up the Radio by Autograph. This is off of their 1984 album Sign In Please which is referenced at the beginning of the video.
LOL at the product placement of the PaperMate Sharpwriter mechanical pencil which had just been released that year.
Exploring Heavy Metal and all its glory. Heavy Metal is often misunderstood and thought to be just a bunch of guys banging and screaming when in fact it can be extremely thoughtful, intelligent, and sincere. Expect some throw-down-head-banging, chill mood metal, and gloomy death metal that you're probably not going to hear on the radio. On the weekends we'll mix things up with a Weekend Wildcard and an Easy Like Sunday Morning Track to get you over your hangover!

Scott's Metal Track of the Day - Kerosene by Baroness
Today's Metal Track is Kerosene by Baroness. This is off of their 2015 album Purple.
You'll take your time
I'll take mine
And I'll wait so...patiently
Drown my love in Kerosene
And in the final hour
Absence told my heart to wander away
When I am done I'll lay in the sun
And when I am done I'll lay in the sun
You'll take your time
I'll take mine
And I'll wait so...patiently
Drown my love in Kerosene
And in the final hour
Absence told my heart to wander away
When I am done I'll lay in the sun
And when I am done I'll lay in the sun

Scott's Metal Track of the Day - Milk Lizard by The Dillinger Escape Plan (Guest host Jamie)
Filling in for Scott, today’s Metal Track is Milk Lizard by the one and only The Dillinger Escape Plan.
This song is off their 2007 album Ire Works. Ire Works was the only
album Gil Sharone recorded drums for Dillinger (Seeing as he was
preceded by Chris Pennie and succeeded by Billy Rymer, they seem to have
an unending supply of top-notch percussionists) and this is one of my
favorite songs he had a hand in writing with them.
Dillinger is most widely known for their breakneck, unrelenting brand of mathy and experimental metal and hardcore along with their acrobatic live performances. However, for anyone who ever questions whether they are nothing but unflinching speed and technicality, their answer comes in the form of a resounding ‘no’ via the handful of more traditionally structured songs DEP has composed over their nearly 20 year career. Milk Lizard proves that, while their technical prowess is among the best, they can groove and write hooks as catchy as anyone out there too.

Scott's Metal Track of the Day - Juular by Devin Townsend
Today's Metal Track is Juular by Devin Townsend. This is off of his 2011 album Deconstruction. Old bearded Devin is definitely the most entertaining character in this video. The funny thing is, Old Devin is actually voiced by Ihsahn from the band Emperor. Don't miss the Ziltoid cameo at the 3:21 mark.
Devin's new album Transcendence is schedule to be released on September 2. Definitely looking forward to it.

Scott's Metal Track of the Day - The Day the World Went Away by Nine Inch Nails
Today's Metal Track is The Day the World Went Away by Nine Inch Nails. This is off of his 1999 album The Fragile. Surprisingly this is NIN's highest charting single and the only one to break the top 20.
This song was used in the Terminator Salvation movie trailer back in 2009. It was also used in a recent episode of Person of Interest. I have never seen that showbut apparently it was used when one of the characters died.
I'd listen to the words he'd say
But in his voice I heard decay
The plastic face forced to portray
All the insides left cold and gray
There is a place that still remains
It eats the fear it eats the pain
The sweetest price he'll have to pay
The day the whole world went away

Scott's Metal Track of the Day - Aqua Dementia by Mastodon
Today's Metal Track is Aqua Dementia by Mastodon. This is off of their 2004 album Leviathan. Again, this album is a concept album based on Moby Dick. This song could be about the character Pip who jumps in the ocean from the boat a couple of times a goes mad. I'm not sure about the lyrics, but the title definitely seems to fit Pip.

Scott's Instrumental Track of the Day - Star Spangled Banner by Jimi Hendrix
Once again, Happy 4th of July!
Today's Instrumental Track is our National Anthem as performed by Jimi Hendrix at Woodstock in 1969. This is one of the most iconic versions of the Anthem. One of the greatest American guitarist of all time at probably the most famous concert in American history performing our National Anthem. This was included on Jimi's 1992 greatest hits album The Ultimate Experience. I've had that CD since I was in like middle school so I've listen to this version a 1000 times.
This was at 9 in the morning and part of a long medley lasting nearly a half hour. The medley also included Voodoo Child, Purple Haze, and a 5 minute improv. Jimi passed away just over a year after this performance. He was only 27. RIP

Weekend Wildcard - Fire on the Mountain by Marshall Tucker Band
This Weekend's Wildcard is Fire on the Mountain by Marshall Tucker Band. This is off of their 1975 album Searchin' for a Rainbow.
"Took my family away from my Carolina home
Had dreams about the West and started to roam
Six long months on a dust covered trail
They say heaven's at the end but so far it's been hell
And there's fire on the mountain, lightnin' in the air
Gold in them hills and it's waitin' for me there "

Scott's Metal Track of the Day - Would? by Alice In Chains
IF
I
WOULD
COULD
YOU?
Today's Grunge Metal Track is Would? by Alice in Chains. This is off of their classic 1992 album Dirt. This song was about the late singer of Mother Love Bone, Andrew Wood. Such a badass chill song. That bass line!
Straight from horses mouth (Jerry Cantrell): "I was thinking a lot about Andrew Wood at the time. We always had a great time when we did hang out, much like Chris Cornell and I do. There was never really a serious moment or conversation, it was all fun. Andy was a hilarious guy, full of life and it was really sad to lose him. But I always hate people who judge the decisions others make. So it was also directed towards people who pass judgments."
