Easy Like Sunday Morning Track - Sister Christian by Night Ranger

Today's Easy Like Sunday Morning Track is Sister Christian by Night Ranger. This is off of their 1984 album Midnight Madness. It was written by drummer Kelly Keagly for his sister Christy. It was supposed to be Sister Christy but when they were recording it one of the band members said it sounded like Christian so they stuck with it.

This has been in numerous TV shows, movies and video games. For me, I can't listen to the song and not think of the hilarious scene in boogie nights when the guys are waiting to do a deal at a drug dealers house. This song is playing really loud in the house and there is a kid walking around throwing fire crackers on the ground while the dealer is playing Russian roulette and it freaks them out because they are already on edge.

Here is the scene

Weekend Wildcard - Fantasy by Aldo Nova

Well I've never heard of this band but I know the song. This Weekend's Wildcard is Fantasy by Aldo Nova. This is the opening track off of their self-titled debut album. Rob Dyrdek used this in a flashback scene on his show Rob & Big. A cover version of the song performed by Steel Panther is the current theme song on his show Rob Dyrdek's Fantasy Factory. I guess you could say he is a fan.

Scott's Metal Track of the Day - Lord of This World by Black Sabbath

Today's Metal Track is Lord of This World by Black Sabbath. This is off of their 1971 album Master of Reality. This album is considered to be the foundation of doom metal, stoner rock, and sludge metal. This track is a great example of that foundation.

Scott's Metal Track of the Day - M∆chine by Born of Osiris

Since I'm in Illinois I figure I should post a least one band from the state before I leave. Today's Metal Track is M∆chine by Born of Osiris. These guys are from Palatine which is a suburb of Chicago. This is the opening track off of their 2013 album Tomorrow We Die Alive.

Scott's Metal Track of the Day - Breathing Lightning by Anthrax

You always had the chance to do the right thing
Until the right thing comes undone

Today's Metal Track is Breathing Lightning by Anthrax. This is off of their most recent album For All Kings. If you haven't checked this album out yet, it's pretty solid. This is their most poppy song on the album but I still think it rocks. Former Shadows Fall guitarist, Jon Donais, was a big pick up for the band. He has a short but sweet solo on this track.

Scott's Metal Track of the Day - Pissed Off and Mad About It by Texas Hippie Coalition

OK so today's metal track just randomly showed up in YouTube for me today. I have never heard of these guys but it had 5 Million views so I decided to check it out. It's not the best song but it has some heavy riffs and is fairly funny. You can tell they are fans of fellow Texas native Dimebag Darrell with their signature Dimebag guitars.

Scott's Instrumental Metal Track of the Day - Continuum Drift by Jeff Loomis

Today's Instrumental Metal Track is Continuum Drift by Jeff Loomis. This is off of his 2012 album Plains of Oblivion. I really hope he continues to put out solo stuff. I think it is better than anything he is doing with other bands. I only have one instrumental track left to post off of this album. Come on Jeff, think about my blog! I need more!

I've mentioned this before, but I had the pleasure of shaking his gigantic "I can hit every fret on the guitar" hand after his show a few years back at Lincoln Theater.

Dan, this sounds like something you would write.

Easy Like Sunday Morning Track - Routine by Steven Wilson

Prepare for the feels.

Today's Easy Like Sunday Morning Track is a beautifully sad song by Steven Wilson. Routine is off of his 2015 album Hand. Cannot. Erase. The song is about a woman who lost her husband and two sons in a school shooting. To cope with the loss, she maintains a routine of cleaning the house, preparing meals, and making beds as if they were still alive. Then she undoes everything and makes a mess so she will have something to do.

Ninet Tayeb provides guest vocals on this track as well as song Ancestral on this album.

Routine keeps me in line
Helps me pass the time
Helps me to sleep

Scott's Metal Track of the Day - Silvera by Gojira

When you change yourself, you change the World!!!

Quit moaning about fate and change
Stand up on your feet and rise
With every fall you get the pain, you learn the lesson
Start now, open your eyes

Today's Metal Track is Silvera by the French metal band Gojira. This is off of their newest album Magma which was just released last month. I absolutely love this track. It's probably my favorite of 2016 so far. As you can tell by the lyrics posted above its about taking control of yourself and making yourself a better person. Take your licks, quit the whining, and be somebody! The video has some really sweet imagery too.

I don't know about you but I'm motivated!

Scott's Metal Track of the Day - The Unknown by Shadows Fall

Today's Metal Track is The Unknown by Shadows Fall. This is the opening track from their 2012 album Fire from the Sky. That was their last release. They are currently on a semi hiatus while the members fulfill duties with their other bands such as Anthrax, Flotsam and Jetsam, and Act of Defiance. Hopefully this is not the last we hear from the guys.

Scott's Metal Track of the Day - Death and the Labyrinth by At the Gates

"With Every Dawn The World Deforms"

Today's Metal Track is Death and the Labyrinth by At the Gates. Heard this on Liquid Metal today and thought it was pretty awesome. This is off of their 2014 album At War with Reality.

These guys are from Gothenburg, Sweden. That sounds made up but it's not. As far as I can tell, there is no link between this city and what we know now as "Goth".

Scott's Instrumental Metal Track of the Day - Dilemma by Kiko Loureiro

Today's Metal Track is Dilemma by Brazilian metal guitarist Kiko Loureiro. This is off of his 2005 debut solo album No Gravity. He replaced Chris Broderick in Megadeth last year and appeared on their most recent album. To be honest, I had never heard of the guy before he joined the band. Dude can shred.

Easy Like Sunday Morning Track - One of these Nights by the Eagles

Today's Easy Like Sunday Morning Track is One of the Nights by the Eagles. This is the opening and title track off of their 1975 album by the same name. It was the last album to feature Bernie Leadon on guitar who was replaced by Joe Walsh.

The late Glenn Frey had this to say about the track:
"A lot of things came together on One Of These Nights – our love of the studio, the dramatic improvement in Don's and my songwriting. We made a quantum leap with "One Of These Nights." It was a breakthrough song. It is my favorite Eagles record. If I ever had to pick one, it wouldn't be "Hotel California"; it wouldn't be "Take It Easy." For me, it would be "One Of These Nights."
