Scott's Metal Track of the Day - Godhead's Lament by Opeth

Today's Metal Track is Godhead's Lament by Opeth. This is off of their 1999 album Still Life. The song starts out pretty brutal. If it's too much for you, at least listen to the part starting at 2:55 before you give up.

The album is about a man who is banished from his home town because he does not have the same faith as the rest of the town. He comes back to rekindle a relationship with a woman in town and things start to go bad.

"Searching my way to perplexion
In crumbling faith I saw her
Bearing her pain in the wilderness
The gleam of her eyes
In that moment she knew"

Scott's Metal Track of the Day - The Nobodies by Marilyn Manson

Today's Metal Track is The Nobodies by Marilyn Manson. This is off of his 2001 album Holy Wood (In The Shadow of the Valley of Death). Well, this particular remix was released later in 2005 but the sound quality of this one on YouTube is better.

The lyrics refer to the two Columbine shooters. "You should have seen the ratings that day." If you remember, Manson was unfairly blamed for being an influence on the killers. Turns out, they weren't even fans.

Scott's Metal Track of the Day - Blackout by Scorpions

Today's Metal Track is Blackout by Scorpions. This is the opening and title track off of their 1982 album by the same name. I love this album cover. It is a self portrait by artist Gottfried Helnwein with forks in his eyes and bandages on his head.

Scott's Metal Track of the Day - Die With Your Boots On by Iron Maiden

If you're gonna die, die with your boots on!

Today's Metal Track is Die With Your Boots On by Iron Maiden. This is off of their 1983 album Piece of Mind. This song speaks of the many prophets who have predicted the end of the world. Well, if you're going to die, you might as well go down swinging instead of being a coward. Put your boots on and face it with courage!

Scott's Metal Track of the Day - Dim Ignition by Between the Buried and Me

Today's Metal Track is a short, chill song by Between the Buried and Me. This is off of their most recent album Coma Ecliptic. It's got a cool techno/video game style to it. On the album, it's serves as a great lead into Famine Wolf. Tommy's vocals on this track are reminiscent of his solo work.

Scott's Metal Track of the Day - Perry Mason by Ozzy Osbourne

Today's Metal Track is Perry Mason by Ozzy Osbourne. This is the opening track off of his 1995 album Ozzmosis. Perry Mason was an American legal drama series back in the 50s and 60s.

This is a pretty underrated song by Ozzy. Maybe because of the time it came out. I don't know. Some great work by Zakk Wylde on this track.

Scott's Metal Track of the Day - Push it way up! by Cloudkicker

Today's Instrumental Metal Track is Push it way up! by Cloudkicker. This is off of his 2010 album Beacons. As I've mentioned before when posting songs from this album, the titles for every song on this album come from the last few lines of cockpit recorder tapes from planes that crashed.

Based on the comments: 02 Aug 1985 - Delta Air Lines 191: the last recorded words of the pilots (recovered from the planes black box) - "Push it way up."

Scott's Metal Track of the Day - This Love by Pantera

No! More! Head! Trips!

Today's Metal Track is This Love by Pantera. This is off of their 1992 album Vulgar Display of Power. This is the official video for the song but it cuts out the breakdown towards the end.

Maroon 5 did a terrible cover of this song. It's like they weren't even trying. :b

This was featured on Beavis and Butthead and is my favorite video they parodied of all time. "I told you to get out there and mow that lawn!! Awe what's this? Is that a tear Pantera? Is daddy's little girl upset?"

Here is the Beavis and Butthead clip

Today's Metal Track is Plato's Tripartite by Protest the Hero. This is off of their 2013 album Volition. The title is a reference to Plato's tripartite theory of soul. This theory asserts that the psyche is made up of three parts; logical, spirited, and appetitive.

Weekend Wildcard - Another Day in Paradise by Phil Collins

This Weekend's Wildcard is Another Day in Paradise by Phil Collins. We listened to this a couple of times tonight at Dad's pool house so that's why I decided to go with it. This is off of his 1989 album ...But Seriously. The song is about the troubles of homeless people and how for you and me "It's just another day in paradise". Something to think about while I'm listening to it in the comfort of a 'pool house'.

Scott's Metal Track of the Day - Ruin by Lamb of God

Today's Metal Track is Ruin by Lamb of God. This brutal onslaught is the opening tack off of their 2003 album As the Palaces Burn. This album was produced by Lamb of God and wonderful Devin Townsend.

I guessing this wasn't the "Lamb of God" the priest was expecting in the video.

Classic Mixup!

Scott's Metal Track of the Day - Bewitched by Candlemass

Did you know there was an alternate theme song for Bewitched that never aired? I can't believe they passed on this.

Today's Metal Track is Bewitched by the Swedish doom metal band Candlemass. This is off of their 1987 album Nightfall. This video is so awesomely cheesy! My favorite part is the Heavy Metal March in the snow starting at the 5:49 mark. The solo is great especially the breakdown (Or whatever you call that) starting at 4:58.

Scott's Metal Track of the Day - Ritual by Ghost

Today's Metal Track is Ritual by Ghost. This is off of the Swedish bands 2010 debut album Opus Eponymous. When I first heard of these guys I had only seen pictures of the band and it made me think they were going to be really heavy but they have clean vocals and are pretty catchy. Like one of the comments on this video states "The catchiest song about human sacrifice".

Scott's Metal Track of the Day - My Own by Devil You Know (Hosted by Stone)

For Scott's metal track of the day, I wanted to give Howard some love. As much as I enjoyed him with KSE, the best part about him leaving is that I get 2 awesome bands to listen to. See? There's always a bright side.

Scott's Metal Track of the Day - Hush by Tool

I can't say what I want to, even if I'm not serious.
I can't say what I want to, even if I'm just kiddiiiiingg!

Today's Metal Track is Hush by Tool. This is off of their 1992 major label debut EP Opiate. This was their first ever video and it, along with the song, are protests against Tipper Gore and her censorship movement in the late 80s. The signs worn by the band in the video are a parody of the "Parental Advisory: Explicit Lyrics" label that was introduced in 1990. Ironically, the label backfired and made those albums even more popular!

This video is still the only video to feature the band members. They were also in their extremely popular video for Sober but just via brief flashes.
