Scott's Instrumental Metal Track of the Day - Ecstasy of Gold by Ennio Morricone (Covered by Metallica)

I was on vacation when it happened so I'm a little late on this but RIP Ennio Morricone. He was one of the greatest film composers to ever live. You may not know his name but you most certainly know his work. His most famous movie score was for the 1966 western film The Good, the Bad and the Ugly starring Clint Eastwood.

Probably his greatest composition is The Ecstasy of Gold which is played as Tuco (The Ugly) is running around Sad Hill Cemetery looking for the grave of Arch Stanton which he thinks contains $200,000 of gold.

Many artist have used this song in different ways but this is my blog so of course we are going to talk about Metallica. They have used the original recording of The Ecstasy of Gold to open their concerts since 1983. In 2007, Metallica covered the song for the tribute album titled We Love You Ennio Morricone.
