Exploring Heavy Metal and all its glory. Heavy Metal is often misunderstood and thought to be just a bunch of guys banging and screaming when in fact it can be extremely thoughtful, intelligent, and sincere. Expect some throw-down-head-banging, chill mood metal, and gloomy death metal that you're probably not going to hear on the radio. On the weekends we'll mix things up with a Weekend Wildcard and an Easy Like Sunday Morning Track to get you over your hangover!

Today's Metal Track is The Great Debate by Dream Theater off of their 2002 album Six Degrees of Inner Turbulence. This particular video is a playthrough by one of the best to every play, Mike Portnoy. The song is about the debate over stem cell research. It doesn't pick a side, just goes back and forth on the pro and cons of each side. You can tell the track is heavily influence by Tool.
Today's Instrumental Metal Track is Beethoven's Moonlight Sonata Act 3 as performed by Exmortus. This is off of their 2014 album Slave to the Sword. Moonlight Sonata was has made the blog before when 17 year old Tina S crushed it. Both versions are outstanding. Metal and classical go together like peas and carrots.

Well this is just fantastic! Metallica was very influenced by Diamond Head and covered many of their songs early on, most notably Am I Evil? which was featured on Metallica's 1983 debut album Kill 'Em All. Today's Metal Track is "brand new" music from Mr. Bungle but it sounds like straight up 80s thrash metal. That's because it is a re-recording of their 1986 demo album. Mr. Bungle was Mike Patton's first band before he joined Faith No More. Sudden Death is the closing track off of their latest album, The Raging Wrath of the Easter Bunny Demo, which was released October 30. Today's Metal Track is Gimme The Keys LV by Clutch. this is off of their 2018 album Book of Bad Decisions.
Per Neil: "Gimme The Keys" was written about CLUTCH's first tour back in 1991, a time where the bandmembers began to cut their teeth in the live music business, dealt with show cancellations and incidents on the road. One particular show in a shed surrounded by cornfields in Lawrence, Kansas ultimately turned ugly over a missing microphone and accusations brought by drunk and gun-toting security people at the end of a long day. "Gimme the keys they can keep the guarantee / Gimme the keys and get the hell out of dodge" is a reflection of the mood of that night.
