Today's Instrumental Metal Track is brought to you by the amazingly talented Jason Becker. This is the title track off of his 1988 album Perpetual Burn. He played with Marty Friedman in the band Cacophany at the age of 16 before going solo.
Unfortunately, at the age of 20 he was diagnosed with ALS (Lou Gehrig's Disease) and hasn't really been able to play since. Today he has to communicate with his eyes but he can still use a computer to compose music. You have to wonder what could have been if he was able to fulfill his full potential.
I couldn't find a version showing Jason playing it but Jeff Loomis covered earlier this year so check that one out.
Exploring Heavy Metal and all its glory. Heavy Metal is often misunderstood and thought to be just a bunch of guys banging and screaming when in fact it can be extremely thoughtful, intelligent, and sincere. Expect some throw-down-head-banging, chill mood metal, and gloomy death metal that you're probably not going to hear on the radio. On the weekends we'll mix things up with a Weekend Wildcard and an Easy Like Sunday Morning Track to get you over your hangover!
